Trader Joes

It's been over a month since I have last updated this blog. I've been drawing but I'm trying to keep some architecture drawings secret................... ehehehehehe
I honestly don't know what to write. Descriptions? Materials I've used?

The paper I used was the back of a trader joe's bag. I used pencil, colored pencils, white gel pen and a black brush pen.

boxes

Trying to develop images & illustrations for my architecture study book.

ughhhhh to do this continuously is tiring.
but anything good is worthwhile I suppose.

These days I've been really into drawing furniture. Maybe I'll show them, who knows.

Stoker Part I

1. acrylic paint
2. acrylic paint, pastel & pen
3. peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen

I'm doing something different these days. I had this project in mind to do stoker screen cap art. Initially I thought it would only take a day... But then my perfectionist self found an opportunity to work more in-depth with the screen-caps. To experiment, per-say. Honestly I should've made these short; 1-5 minutes total. But I got onto cutting on watercolor paper.

& You don't waste watercolor paper.
oh hell no you don't.

**All of these are in the beginning scene of Stoker.
It's quite the movie. (not quite out yet, but I have streamed it. (I KNOW IT'S BAD BUT I TOTALLY PLAN TO BUY THE MOVIE!!)

tennis courts are sexy

pen, marker & pastel pencils
Tennis courts are sexy.

It's been more or less a week that has gone by since I have last updated. When I told myself that I would do a drawing a day, I stopped. I realized that I like to draw for myself and not as a personal goal. Drawing, sketching, and illustrating in a way, is for myself I suppose. Even for myself I couldn't do it. I wanted to do it to show others that I can.
Maybe I'm doing it for all the wrong reasons.

"Do what you love for a job" they say.
but then it all becomes mundane.
Maybe illustrating is a hobby for me, I don't know.

I'm at this point where I don't fully know what I want...
& I need to find out soon.

oh george.

george likes pink ties

Joseph didn't want to swim... because he hates chlorine.

I drew on a sketchbook that I've made out of a trader joes bag. It's pretty fun to draw on. I think next time I'm going to make it smaller so it fits in pockets.

mineral necklaces

pen & gouache paint on watercolor paper
I have a thing for mineral necklaces.

I've always been attracted to shiny things.
mineral rocks are no exception.
When I first found out about them I was like,

OH MY GOD I FOUND DIAMONDS IN THIS ROCK OHMYLORD I AM RICH!
I'M RICH!
HOLY MOUNTAINS I AM RICH!!!

granted, this was when I was 5 and anything shiny made me think diamonds.

anyhow, here is my daily sketch illustration.

keep it classy.
ron burgandy out.

Celine Trapeze Multicolor

gouaché, pen & marker on watercolor paper
Céline Spring 2013 Leather goods
TRAPEZE MULTICOLOUR IN CALFSKIN DEEPSEA AND BEIGE

At first I thought, 'nothing could ever top kate spade's bright bag with the whole name game.' then I saw this title. I thought, 'wow how can anyone even try to buy certain bags without bringing a memo with them?' Then I saw that it was the color of the bag that was taking up most of the name.

oh.

well then.

okay.

Also, I just moved into my new apartment! I still have one or two things to do in my old apartment, but other than that, I'm mostly moved in! Whoo!

These pieces definitely look better in real life than the scanned version. ;______;
i so srry my scanner is st0opid.

Charlotte Street Sylvie Satchel (what a long name)

Pen, Gouache paint on watercolor paper. photoshop cs5.
Kate Spade: Charlotte Street Sylvie Satchel

I mean, I could afford it, but I'd rather eat 25 chipotle bowls instead.
or 50 in-n-out meals.
or 250 tacos.
or ....you get what I mean.

Brooks Brothers Black Fleece Soccer Bag

black marker, gouache paint, and pen on watercolor paper

Brooks Brothers Black Fleece line
When I first saw this bag on tumblr I immediately wanted it. I didn't even question the price.
Then I went on the shop site and they didn't have that specific bag available. I also looked at the price and I changed my mind about how badly I wanted it.

It's still a beautiful bag.
It's still really expensive.

My ultimate material goal is to be rich enough to buy this beautiful bag without cringing and breaking down at the register.

3.1 Phillip Lim

pen on watercolor paper
3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli Satchel

Initially I was about to go over the bag with a wash of black. I thought about it some more and came to the conclusion that the details wouldn't show as well as I would have liked. So here it is! Another addition to my Material Girl series.

Who knows, I might add a bit more flare to this later.

Material Girl

Daisy by Marc Jacobs
Pen, Gouache paint & some photoshop magic

I'm going to start a new series called: Material Girl

Based on my desires as a poor material being, and my wanting such and such things, I've decided to be proactive about my wishlist and creating art out of it. I hope you can sit through a materialistic blog.
[oh goshers!]

The blog will contain other art such as architectural case studies and other stuff I find interesting.

TBT - Throwback Thursday

medium: pen in sketch book

Throwback Thursday. This sketch reminds me of when I took 10-30 minutes out of my time to take a breather in NYC and draw. Throwback to last year. Wow. I returned a year later and found out the city hadn't changed much, but I did.
I grew as a person.
I grew as an artist.
I grew.... as a....

The best things come in three's, they say.
But I don't know what my last line would be.
Can you finish it for me?

Spring

medium: ink, pen, marker, watercolor, acrylic paint on wood

carnations, daisies, poppies, roses, and a lot of other flowers are in bloom.

Plaid on Plaid

pen, ink, watercolor, acrylic paint on wood

Ink on wood

ink, white acrylic, pen on wood

it was a lot of fun to paint this portrait. Ever since I saw the source picture I thought, "HEY I SHOULD PAINT HIM ON WOOD!" As I was progressing and in the middle of it, I thought, "ughhhhh I messed uuuup"
I think I'm satisfied with the final product.
my portraits never really look like the original source pictures anyways. hehhehehe...

I might make a case study of modern architecture.

boop.

a Corbusier chair and a levitating staircase.

corbusier chairs in a room

I may compile all of my images/illustrations of architecture and put it in a book. Hopefully I don't get burnt out by the book before I hit the half-way mark. -____-'

print fair!

I went to the print fair at school today and met a bunch of new cool people! It was a lot of fun and I spent so much dinero, but at the same time it was money well worth spent. I sold a few prints... more than half of them actually. (Mostly because I didn't make many copies because I wanted to see what would sell more) It was fun to see what pieces people gravitated towards.

Anyways, these are a few popular prints that sold out within the few hours I sat.

poppies

I was about to sell a book of my illustrations of poppies but I didn't have enough time nor money to do so. Oh well. I'll make it available later on etsy or whatever.

spring breaking

I took a really cheap calendar and converted it into a sketchbook because I left mine at home.

at the Highline in NYC

I watched a performance at the Alice Tulley hall around Lincoln Center. It was Juilliard's horn concert.

Caffe Bene in Times Square is super busy.

a sketch on the subway.

the subways in Boston are a lot smaller.

I drew a few trees while I was on the bus going from Manhattan to Cambridge.
